RB KJ Edwards, the #3 RB in the nation, would give CU an explosive option out of the backfield.
This is the v3.0 of the soon-to-be-(in)famous BuffsBlog.com OFFENSIVE RECRUITING BOARD. As you can guess, v3.0 of the defensive recruiting board is also being worked on and will be up on the blog in the not-too-distant future.
If you’re having a hard time making out the general shape of Colorado’s 2025/26 class, this should catch you up.
Note the “So You’re Saying There’s a Chance” column. There are 3 potential responses in said column: Probably Not; Stay Tuned; and Strong Interest. We are still early in the class, so take the “So You’re Saying There’s a Chance” column with many grains of salt. At this stage, this is best used to get a stance on the most interested players.
If you really want to know how things stand, Colorado fans are blessed with an incredible set of insiders at 247, AllBuffs, Netbuffs, and Rivals. I recommend them all.
A Note on Premium Info: No illicit sharing of said material will appear on this site. Players are listed with interested schools in their profiles or social media; this information is public. Commitments are by definition public. If you want a clearer picture than what can be gleaned from free browsing, subscribe to 247, Rivals or On3. Or peruse AllBuffs or Netbuffs.
Also note — every player listed below has received an offer from Colorado for the 2026 class. These are not just names listed because they’re in the 247 or Rivals recruiting database!
So, let’s jump in:
Quarterback

CU is heavily recruiting dual-threat QB Oscar Rios.
The primary name to keep an eye on is dual threat QB Oscar Rios. Rios has scheduled official visits to Oklahoma State, Utah, Arizona and CU this summer, with Rios visiting Boulder on June 20th. Rios plays at the same high school as current Michigan State QB Aidan Chiles, and most experts think Rios is further along at this stage than Rios was. Rios is quickly rising up recruiting boards nationally, and he should end up a high 4-star QB. Rios has been impressive in his camp visits, as well. For some footage on Rios, check out: https://247sports.com/article/elite-11-los-angeles-alpha-dog-oscar-rios-leads-top-performers-from-regional-qb-camp-247174586/
Brodie McWhorter, who had CU among his top 3, committed to Mississippi State last month. The #33 QB nationally is still a name to keep an eye on as CU’s class develops. After all, he may take a visit to Stark-Vegas and decide that Boulder isn’t a bad place to live for 4 years.

Wide Receiver

Jase Matthews is a key WR target this upcoming recruiting season.
CU is “in” on several high-level WR prospects, including 5 star WRs Cederian Morgan and Jase Matthews.
Cederian Morgan is a top-20 player nationally that is being recruited by every blue blood in the country. Still, he appears to have a deep connection with Deion Sanders, and he visited Boulder this past weekend. Ranked the #17 prospect nationally and #3 WR by 247, Morgan is a game changer and a real player to watch for CU.
The fact that he @JulianLewis10 is only positive.
Jase Matthews also visited Boulder last week. Matthews holds offers from Texas A&M, Miami, Ole Miss and more, and is ranked the #3 WR nationally by On3.
Other names to keep an eye on are 4 star WR Jordan Clay (visiting CU June 20th), and 3 star WRs Kavon Conciauro (visiting CU on May 23rd), Daylen Sharper (son of NFL safety Darren Sharper), and Toray Davis. I expect that Toray Davis will probably end up playing down the street – he goes to Fairview High School in Boulder — at CU. Davis has offers from Utah, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, UCLA, Iowa State, Minnesota and more.
CU will probably takes 3 or 4 WRs in the 2025/2026 class. CU is trending towards a potentially killer WR recruiting class.

Running Back

KJ Edwards is a speedster out of Carthage, TX.
There were no true freshmen RB and only 1 transfer RB to CU in the last year (Incarnate Word transfer DeKalon Taylor), so RB is a real position of need. CU is putting the full court press on 5-star RB KJ Edwards out of Carthage, TX. Edwards is ranked the #4 RB and the #42 recruit nationally. Edwrds ran a 10.9 100 meter as a sophomore and is a 4.40 guy.
While the favorite to land Edwards is probably Texas, Edwards visited Boulder and loved his time with Deion Sanders. If Edwards looks at the CU depth chart, he will see that CU offers him the unique opportunity to step onto the field his freshman year as the team’s starting RB.
CU is not “in” on many other high school running backs at the present moment. I expect more RB names to emerge over the summer.

Tight End

Gavin Mueller is a 6’6″ tight end that could really help CU’s depth and skill in the tight end room.
The two names to watch here are Gavin Mueller and Julius Miles.
Julius Miles visited CU last weekend. He is scheduled to visit Vanderbilt, Syracuse, Louisville and Florida State on official visits as well. Miles is ranked the #77 player in the State of Florida and, as a junior this past fall, recorded 59 catches for 895 yards and 7 TDs while tallying 22 tackles and 3 interceptions as a defensive back. Miles is a receiving tight end at this point and is 6’6” and only 210 pounds.
Gavin Mueller visited Boulder in late April and set a commitment date of May 14th. He is down to Wisconsin, Notre Dame, LSU and Colorado. I believe he’s leaning Wisconsin — he lives about 90 minutes from Madison. Still, Colorado has spent a lot of time and effort recruiting him and may still have a shot.
Mueller is the #40 ranked tight end nationally. Mueller is 6’5” and 255 pounds and has the size to be a 3-down tight end. He did not play high school football until his junior year, and has shot up national rankings. His workout film shows a lot of athleticism for a large athlete.
CU signed 2 true freshman TE last year (Corbin Laisure and Zane DeSouza). This is still a position of real need, so if there’s a blue chip TE available, expect the Buffs to jump.

Offensive Line

Breck Kolojay (left) and Deacon Schmitt (right) would give CU two Colorado native rocks on the offensive line.
Names to keep an eye on include G’nivre Carr, Jonnie Jones and Breck Kolojay. Carr visited Boulder this past weekend. He’s an interior offensive lineman and plays at IMG Academy in Bradenton. He’s a mauler — very similar to Chauncey Gooden. Having him and Gooden at the guard spot in 2 or 3 years would be fun to watch. Carr is also looking at Florida and Tennessee.
Kolojay can play tackle and guard but is currently projected as an interior lineman by CU. Kolojay is 6’5.5” and 320 pounds. Kolojay is ranked the #20 interior offensive lineman nationally and is the #278 player nationally. Kolojay is from Colorado but currently plays for IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
Felix Ojo is ranked the #2 tackle nationally and the #7 player overall per 247 Sports. Ojo visited Boulder in April. He has fantastic footwork and is 6’6” 275 pounds, so he’s probably going to need more time in the weight room. Still, he projects as a high NFL draft choice in 3-4 years. Unfortunately, he has already said that CU is not on his list of finalists — presumably due to NIL limitations relative to some of his other big-pocketed suitors.
Johnnie Jones is a 6’5” 305 pound bookend from Tampe Berkeley Prep. Jones is the #11 ranked OT in the country and visited CU in April. Other visits include Ole Miss, Florida State, UCLA, Penn State and Miami.
Deacon Schmitt and Derek Worden are 2 other names to keep an eye on. Deacon Schmitt visited Boulder 2 weeks ago. Local offensive line coach guru Matt McChesney has said that Schmitt is the best offensive lineman he’s ever worked with. The 6’5” 320 pound lineman is also interested in Tennessee, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Alabama.
Derek Worden is a 6’6” 270-pound tackle from Queen Creek, Arizona. He’s lightly recruited at the moment, with offers from Arizona, Boise State, New Mexico and Utah State, but CU coaches love his frame and footwork. Some schools are looking at him on the defensive line as well, which bodes well for his athleticism.
Last year, Colorado signed 3 true freshman offensive lineman. I suspect that this number will only increase going forward as the Buffs have realized how difficult it is to build an offensive line comprised primarily of transfers.
